I'm a 42 year old husband with two children. My mom died on my 12th birthday. My dad died my freshman year in college. I was all area in basketball receiving a full ride scholarship to Northwood Institute of Midland Michigan. Got in trouble in school after my dad passed away and was kicked out of school. Turned to selling drugs which landed me a 15 to 30 year prison sentence. I was released in March, 2005 and God blessed me with a job in April, 2005. My daughter was born in Nov 3, 2008 and my son was born Dec 21, 2010. I split up with my kids mom. She went to church and I hit the streets once again. My kids mom bought me a TD Jakes dvd for fathers day that I end up watching two months later. God spoke to my heart that day. My kids mom let me listen to a Marvin Sapp cd. I was listening to it as I was working out and when track five come on, I began to cry. I stopped my workout and began to pray. My kids mom invited me to her church as a visitor. The next Sunday I joined the church. That same week I was baptized and a day after my sons second birthday we were married. God spared my life and I am forever grateful to Him. Glory be to God! |

Righteous Riter:
I would like to apologize to the reviewers for my delayed responses. Between looking for a job and enrolling for college courses I haven't had much time to be on the site. Looking for a job is time consuming and at times frustrating but I know God has my back as well as yours. To God be the glory.

Righteous Riter:
I want to thank all the people who followed "My House". Thank you for your time. Thank you for your reviews. Thank you for your honest and open feedback. I've come to find that reviewers are a luxury to have because every time I feel/felt uneasy about a line or a thought, someone helped me. That let me know that I was on point but couldn't find the right words until someone reviewed and shared their suggestions and gave me the right words. No one is perfect but FanStory reviewers are helping me get better. Much love from the Riter and to God be the glory.

tbacha58: Dearest RR, you are an amazing writer, I definitely enjoyed reading your sad childhood story, but God loved you, for you to meet the right loving person, to help you forget at least a little, what you have gone through in your childhood. I am so happy, you buried your past by loving God who send His son to show us the way how to forgive, and forget past events that were extremely painful. Yes, our friends reviewer are amazing to, they help out of friendship and respect.
I think like you, we are so lucky to have each other, in the good times, and in the bad times. Trust your friends at Fan Story, they will never hurt you, but the opposite, they will always he here for you. Bless you my friend, and all your family. Much love from Terry xoxoxo

ArtGal: ArtGal: I don't know if I'm doing this correctly, since I just returned after more than 3 years. I want to thank you here for reading 'Blessings to Skylar', and then writing 'Help Me God' in your own words. It's so very beautiful and I can't thank you enough. The hospital feels there's a big possibility that she may be bi-polar like her dad. If so, they will have to experiment with meds to find those that may work the best. Her mood swings are more than changing hormones, but starting a new school with a lot of bullies doesn't help either. She just wants to stay home with her mom and not go back to school. But she has to return so that she doesn't have to repeat the same grade. My daughter, her mom, is just the best and has prepared her and her twin brother to know the Lord more through Bible study and prayer at home. When we find out her problem, I'll definitely let you know. God bless, and lots of love to you and your family. My husband also thanks you for such a lovely poem. . .Sharon

ArtGal: Riter, we finally have the proper diagnosis for Skylar and it's called School Refusal! You can read about this on Wikipedia, and she has all the symptoms of this, especially going from Elememtary to Middle school, and having many bullies there. The hospital is teaching her breathing excercises and coping skills, but she still doesn't want to go back to that school. She'll stay in the hospital a bit longer but then she has no choice but to go back. We'll have to face that when it happens, and we're praying that she'll be able to cope with it much better. Just wanted to let you know. I'm so glad that my poem inspired you to write for Skylar, and God be with you. Love. . .Sharon

twinklepoems: I just happened upon this tonight. Wondering how the return to school was. I'm a school psychologist but I was also a kid with school refusal after riots closed my high school. I missed a hundred days of school (but still passed). Now days kids have more options in terms of non-traditional schools.

I want to take this time to thank God for growth. There was a time when I would get offended when reviewers offered suggestions or corrections but now I understand it's all done to make me a better writer. I still have a lot of work to do because habits don't break over night. There are awesome people on this site with knowledge of writing. I thank all of you for your help and your honest opinions and feedback. Much love from the Riter. To God be the glory.

Righteous Riter:
To all inspiring writers: Reviews are important within this site but don't the reviews discourage you. Some reviewers get so caught up in the mechanics that they miss the message. Real talk, everyone is not going to like what you write but keep writing. What's in your heart is way more important than what's in the mind of others. People shoot my work down all the time but I just reload with messages from the Lord. There is no such thing as a perfect poem but there is what I call a pure poem. A pure poem comes from the heart and no matter no much reviewers critique it, it's still pure. Keep writing from the heart and know that no one can do you like you do you. Glory be to God.

Joy Graham: Very nice message. Keep on writing :)
|
February 21, 2013 at 12:44PM
|
|
Righteous Riter: I understand exactly what you are saying and I respect that. You can tell when the reviewer is trying to do you or your work no good. Coming in I knew that my work would be under microscope just because of what I choose to write about but I'm cool with that. My work is designed to inspire and encourage others and if the Lord bless me with a chance to write a book, praise His name. One thing I will not do is let a review get me off track. Much love from the Riter.

Anisa-: Mechanics are important, too. It helps things read better. And there all types of personalities on this site, which is great, I think. People who are more mechanics driven, others more focused on the content, some on characters, logical sequence, etc. It's all helpful in the long run, as long as they're being constructive and not rude.

|
sadie girl: I do believe writing from the heart does come from the lord. Sometimes I write something and I go Wow! did I do that. Did that come from me. When words and thoughts flow out of me. I know without a shadow of a doubt it comes from God. I do need help with pucuation, and grammer, also sentence structuring, etc. and I'm grate ful for any feedback I get. reviewers have help me already. Thank you Lord! for leading me to this site. I'm grateful,Sadie Girl
|
February 22, 2013 at 2:13PM
|
|
expressions9: I think the message and the mechanics of a poem are both important. What's sad with some reviewers is when they don't agree with the content and then decide to give an offensive and negative review - so uncalled for. We are all here to share our writing and it's much more helpful to give positive or at least constructive (not destructive) feedback, or just skip. Don't be discouraged. No-one can take away the gift God has given you. Useful feedback on the mechanics will always help make us better writers, and that's a good thing. It's all good practice, just like with musical instruments so we may "play skilfully" (as David said in the psalms). I've learnt things I didn't know before since joining the site. Bless you! Keep writing.
PS: Remember too that if you have any concerns you can contact the site admin (click on Contact Us - top right corner)
Blessings!

Barb Hensongispsaca: I review the ones that I like and can understand. If I read them more than three times to understand, I move on. I would rather save my reviews for ones that I really like than to make statements just to make them amd I hope others do that for me. I also want real reviews and help if I need it. That is why I am here is to share and learn.

whizpurr ^-^: I like the beautiful philosophy of there being such a thing as a pure poem. I truly agree... it's the ones that come straight from the heart that contain the essence of memorable poetry.

mrsmajor: What an encouraging message you have given us..and I know exactly what you mean..Every poem I write, is intended to bring to the reader something to enjoy, yes, a part of what's in my heart. Some like my work, others do not. It is their choice, yet we can all be friends.
The Love of Almighty God is a part of me, and so I will continue to give Praise to His name whenever I can, throught my words. I do my best, if the mechanics are without merit, then I have no problem with corrections..God is indeed Good, All the time.
