GaryCecil: I should have my next story up by this weekend. I won't tell you too much, but it is called, The Text.

The big idea - A man, just about to leave for work, hears the buzzing of his wife's cell phone on the counter. He grabs the cell off the counter, and sees a text message from a number with no name assigned to it.

It reads : I haven't had sex like that since I was in my twenties. I have not heard from you, and I need to know when I can see you again. Please, text me back.

Rage fills his heart, and he envisions himself throwing the phone against the wall and watching it shatter. He looks at the clock on the coffee maker and realizes he will be late for work.

He goes to work instead, and plots the murder of his wife the whole day.

The choices he makes along the way will change him forever. You will have to read the story to find out if he "gets her", or not. :)!

DIS-illusioned: Gee, thanks for not telling us 'too much' about it.
It's obviously a case of a gross misunderstanding (oops! sorry about my big mouth).
However, if that were my wife, I'd be so on her case about not putting it out like that for me, and demand that the texter 'compensate' me for her--ahem--'services'. (And my mother wonders why I can't stay married).

July 31, 2013 at 8:17PM
DIS-illusioned: Hack-saw neatly along the frontal lobe and let the ideas pour forth.
    July 31, 2013 at 11:31PM
GaryCecil: Will do! I have been reading Peter Straub's, Ghost Story, and I just cannot put it down! I have, however, put the story down, so I can finish my suspense-driven tale!
    August 1, 2013 at 7:39PM

GaryCecil: Working on the novel version of Bestseller. I have some great ideas boiling! Thanks for all the wonderful feedback! I have taken tiny fragments from some of the comments and I believe they will transcend very well into the full-length novel.

david bell: About your e-book proposal, don't beg, don't sell too cheap, try to build a fan base. Amazon has a WAY YOU GET ON THE TOP OF THEIR LIST. I HAVE SEVERAL BOOKS ON kINDLE, AND OFFTER THEM FOR A GREE READ, WITH LITTLE OR NO RESULRS, THE PROBLEM IS NO ONE KNOWS US AND THERE IS A FOOLD OF SELF PUBLISHING AUTHORS ON aMAZON AND IN E-BOOKS, TRY TWITTER, FACEBOOK AND LINKET TO PROMOTE YOUR WORK, DO FREE READINGS AND WORKSHOPS

Cookie333: I wish I had a kindle, I would certainly download the version to support. I am afraid that I am technologically challenged,

July 20, 2013 at 2:28AM

GaryCecil: A new story is eating away at my insides. I have to get this out! It might be a month before you all see it, but I have a good scare coming for you.
July 17, 2013 at 7:49AM
shelley kaye: does it involve chewed up intestines dripping blood? lol

    July 17, 2013 at 11:11AM
GaryCecil: Blood, yes, but as of right now there will be no chewed up guts. haha
    July 17, 2013 at 6:06PM
Christof McTarnahan: No masticated organs? How about a big rabid wolf that poops pin worms and tumors? I am sure your new story will kick arse.
    July 19, 2013 at 1:16AM
GaryCecil: Haha that sounds pretty gross
    July 19, 2013 at 5:24PM

GaryCecil: In final editing phase for "At the bank" contest entry.
July 15, 2013 at 8:16PM
William Walz: Hope you don't get robbed while you're "At the bank"
    July 15, 2013 at 9:28PM
GaryCecil: I think my characters would rather have been robbed. :)
    July 15, 2013 at 10:21PM

GaryCecil: So close to being finished with my "At the bank" contest entry! It's going well!
July 15, 2013 at 6:48PM
Christof McTarnahan: I write with a candle too, human fat works the best. Kind of greasy glow...
    July 15, 2013 at 7:33PM
    GaryCecil: Haha eww!
    July 15, 2013 at 8:16PM

GaryCecil: Does anyone else write with a candle burning? I don't know why, but I cannot write without one. Plus, they smell awesome!
July 14, 2013 at 5:37PM
DIS-illusioned: I guess you haven't tried the kind my gran hoards--from the B.C. era, I believe. Trust me, you'd rather be in the dark.
    July 14, 2013 at 6:52PM
William Walz: You are right about the candle. And the smaller the better.
    July 14, 2013 at 8:36PM
GaryCecil: Yes! Even though I mostly write during the day, the candle burning and lights off in my office room is the best way for me to release my fiction.
    July 15, 2013 at 6:42AM
shelley kaye: no. i have a fear of fire....

    July 15, 2013 at 10:03AM

GaryCecil: Alright, 2.3K words into my new story. I'm going to take a break now and read some more great stuff on FS!

GaryCecil: Thinking of a fun, exciting idea for "At the Bank" contest
July 14, 2013 at 1:49PM

GaryCecil: I have such a creepy tale brewing in my mind. I'm going to relax and read Michael Connelly's The Drop, while that baby churns!
July 13, 2013 at 5:01PM
DIS-illusioned: Hope you deliver a terrific monster.
    July 14, 2013 at 12:27AM
GaryCecil: I hope so too. I actually had to put that story on the back burner for just a little while. I am working on my submission for the contest "At the Bank."
