I have returned to FanStory as I wanted to reconnect to this community that gave me so much encouragement and long-distance friendship. I also need to return to writing/reviewing daily as it enhances my life. Lastly, I will be re-posting my 10 year project...my memoir. I hope to have "new" feedback from Fanstory members.

green5587: I, too, have returned to FanStory. Been about five years but the memories of warmth and friends is still fresh. Wandered away from writing but I want it back. This site helped me tremendously.

I am in the process of editing my book before I mark it finished. I decided to change the names of my daughters to protect their privacy if I choose to publish. I had already used different names for the other 'main' characters. If any are reading my book, (as a few of you have told me) just wanted to let you know that Laura is now Laurel and Molly is now Paxton....are these different enough? Thanks.

I am thinking of my fellow Australians ...I was sickened when I heard the news that your country had to experience terror at the hands of a lone-wolf radical.. So sorry....I loved the city of Sydney...felt like the safest city in the world....what a crazy, mad world.

I keep trying to use the new site, but the purple band gets in the way, and I write reviews and have no idea if they were posted. Found out....they were not.

pipersfancy: That is kind of you, Maggie. Much appreciation. My kids and I spent part of our summer in Ottawa in a beautiful downtown hi-rise hotel. We could see the Parliament Buildings out our living room window. A beautiful sight to see every morning as the sun rose - it inspired all three of us to feel tremendous pride in our country. We can't help but place ourselves in all the photos of the tragic events of today that are emerging, since we so recently took photos of the very same locations with our smiling faces in them. It's a sad day. I think, somehow, as Canadians we grow up believing that the world loves us and we are immune to the terrorism that seems intent on wreaking havoc in the world. (And, that line of reasoning is anything but reasonable given how many Canadians have already given their lives in the ongoing wars against terrorism...) It's almost harder to deal with when one learns that the terrorists involved in today's shootings are fellow Canadians... I weep. But, I also feel a great deal of resolve in supporting our troops, and the troops of so many countries which are actively engaged in protecting this world of ours, and making it a safer place for us all. One can only hope and pray that fear will be defeated in the end.

Adri7enne: I was traveling out of town for a medical appointment today and only learned of this tragedy after I got back in early evening. I also wept. Ours was the last Western country, implicated in the struggle for freedom to be hit. We remained, until today, blightly thinking we were safe on our home soil. Kind, complacent Canada. Who would bother attacking us? People from our own country, as it turns out. I weep for the end of our innocence. Gone are the days of mainly open doors and friendly, welcoming smiles. Now there will be gates, maned with guns. Sigh! Dreadfully sad! It's a new and different world for us, starting now.

I am so blown away by this recognition. I just now learned of this honor, as I have been out of the loop for a few weeks. I am grateful for fan story, but most importantly, I am grateful for all whom I have connected with on this site. It is indeed a community. Thank you.

How can one go from such a sun-filled vacation both literally and figuratively and come back to dark black clouds and rain both figuratively and literally. Isn't there such a place called Balance?
