I have been a proactive writer since I was a 10 year old boy.

At around 28 I started writing poetry too, most of which I personally think is very poor.

Most of my stuff is loaded with a wry cynicism that is inherently Scottish and for which I feel no need to apologise.

Erik McGinley: Yay! :D Tainted Epitaph got to all time best. Quite happy about that for a quick off the cuff moment of irritated pique.

Thanks to all who were kind enough to read and review :D

Erik McGinley: For those that like the more humourous and titillating parts of my novel Damage, be sure to check Chapter 16 tomorrow. It's one I enjoy reading myself ;)

January 30, 2014 at 5:18PM
Acquired Taste: One of my favorite moody, dark songs.
    August 1, 2014 at 2:17PM

Erik McGinley: I just discovered this group, Evanescence. Some absolutely wonderful music.

January 27, 2014 at 7:18PM
Debra White: I couldn't agree more Erik... love them :)
    January 28, 2014 at 2:41AM
kiwigirl2821: they are amazing and you haven't even listened to the best one yet...lol xoxo

Erik McGinley: I told you I was studying to teach English? I just worked out the first assignment I am going to give my pupils.

Write a poem, script or story about, "The Delights of Irish Stew".

Okay, class, you can start on it now while I mark your homework. It's due in on Monday :P
January 22, 2014 at 7:28PM
Debra White: That's a great assignment Erik! You've got me hungry now though :)

Erik McGinley: I just put a Book Balloon certificate on my novel Damage to encourage anyone who would like to read it to get the most out of doing so.

Chapters 10 and 11 currently have full promotion.

Should you wish to catch up on the earlier chapters and not have enough time to fully review them, feel free to copy and paste a generic review for each chapter.

I have already had many constructive reviews for earlier chapters but hope that by doing this, people reviewing later chapters with be able to do that more informedly in the context of the book as a whole.

January 20, 2014 at 1:09PM
DIS-illusioned: I believe generic reviews only 'Damage' credibility. :)
    January 20, 2014 at 2:17PM
Selina Stambi: There is a rule against generic reviews - they are reportable and the reviewer could get suspended for a time. Personally, I wouldn't write a review unless I've been able to read the whole piece and make a real comment and genuine critique.

I've popped in to review one of your chapters .. :)

Erik McGinley: If you were to make one change in your life tomorrow, what would it be?

Why did you not do it yesterday?

January 19, 2014 at 9:16PM
Erik McGinley: Go back to the gym and work on being awake again. I will do that tomorrow though.

I don't really know why I have not been for a week. Partly because I was waking up at 4pm.
    January 19, 2014 at 9:18PM
Selina Stambi: Make a resolution to live each day as if it were your last - then, when the last one really happens, there will be far fewer regrets!

    January 20, 2014 at 9:04AM
Alena Smith: I would get a new house. But I didn't yesterday because I couldn't afford it
    January 20, 2014 at 2:21PM
3boysrule: A laugh that will make me cry ... tomorrow. Well, yesterday, my son scared my mother ... so I did laugh that hard :-)
    January 21, 2014 at 10:30PM
Loren (7): Not look back at yesterday with any regrets.

Why didn't I do it yesterday? Well, tomorrow was not yet here.
    January 27, 2014 at 5:44PM

Erik McGinley: Some days I just write loads and some days I write nothing.

I wish it was more 14 per week than two per day.

Or maybe more 3 per day or 21 per week?
January 16, 2014 at 8:37PM
Alena Smith: in my case, lately, it's been 2 per week.
so, whichever one of those you choose, I take my hat off.
I would have to put one on first
    January 17, 2014 at 1:52PM
birdsnest: I thought you could just keep adding.....
    January 17, 2014 at 2:52PM
Erik McGinley: Unfortunately not. I've never been quite sure if its an absolute two per day or if its two per category per day. I just got into the habit of stopping at two per day and saving the excess on my computer.
    January 17, 2014 at 4:44PM
Maureen's Pen: The system stops you from doing more than two a day. I know because my brain was mush for a few days and obviously couldn't count. FS popped up with some automatic note on limiting posts to two a day. Plus I wasn't even posting just creating- it seems you can't "prepare" two posts in creation mode either :)
    January 17, 2014 at 5:09PM

Erik McGinley: This is fantastic!

Seriously this is a must read! I have not read anything so funny and human for 20 years. That's a literal!

This guy/gal is cutting edge imo!

January 15, 2014 at 7:07PM

Erik McGinley: I meant to say this three days ago and forgot. But all the chapters of my book, Damage, are currently under promotion.

So, if you like it, and would like the reward for reading and reviewing up to the current point (chapter 7), then now is the time to do that.
January 11, 2014 at 8:25PM

Erik McGinley: For Pouce en Boute

wow, I don't even know what to say, which is rare.
I am blushing after reading this. every line was just... filled with... such rising and arousing passion.
just amazing

This is the nicest review I have had yet! It was a six rating, but knowing that my work can actually engender a powerful reaction is sublime compliment.

Thank you very much (name elided to protect the guilty) :)

January 8, 2014 at 3:47PM
Alena Smith: well, that was a nice comment, whoever it was.
    January 16, 2014 at 12:53PM

Erik McGinley: I want to be the guy in the picture again
You would not want to see who I am now
So tomorrow I want to be back in the gym
I want my life back

You may not see me that much
Tomorrow I want to be in the gym
I want my life back.

Mr. Laugh At Me .. bow ..
you care more than people care :)

Thanks for being my friend again.
Once again you are giving me what I need :D

Julia.: I hit the gym tonight! It was pretty packed, but that always happens this time of year. Good luck with your workout plan!
    January 2, 2014 at 10:23PM
Alena Smith: How's gym these days?
    January 4, 2014 at 12:25PM
Bachus: you are the guy in that picture... wtf are
    you going on about?
I'm older than you and look much better...
but I use a great deal of photoshop. lol
    January 7, 2014 at 10:15PM

Erik McGinley: Tomorrow the gym!

January 2, 2014 at 7:22PM

Erik McGinley: I managed to double reply to some poems just now.

Apologies to those that got a very brief response and then, hopefully, the original one.

Erik McGinley:

I would like to share defeat!
I would like to share your loss
I would like to share deplete
But I already shared my boss!

Flower of Scotland?

My kith and kin!

Beat my family!

Ma mere

Beat ne!

Take not, my daughter, from me
Lest in a grave I bury thee!
