The How of Rejection by Jay Squires

Chapter 15 of the book How This Critter Crits

Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted

Ah, my friend, we've all gone through this, haven't we? I remember sending my first ms - cost $10 - to one of the highest regarded editors in the business, Donald Maas, owns his own literary agency, the whole enchilada.

So I'm sitting on pins and needles because, of course, not only will he publish me, this was the next American Novel literary winner. Finally, back comes the ms. With shaking hands I open the envelope, pull out the ms and notice - no check. I pull it out completely and in RED pen, scrawled across the first page he wrote TRIPE!

Gotta have a thick skin, not to mention a realistic attitude, 'cause he was right. That one was tripe, lol. I think FS has done so much for me since then.

Thanks so much for sharing, gave me a chuckle or two and a fun memory.

Hugs,
Gayle

Doesn't matter what the caliber of your submission was, an editor has no right to call it TRIPE. That really pisses me off! The important thing is you have tough skin and you write good stuff now. I'm so happy you liked this post and hope you return.

Wow, Gayle! Could you send this to congress, so they could maybe understand what could happen if they don't go after ISIS? Why we continue to sit around and do nothing is beyond me. Every country should be banning together to stop ISIS.
Anyway, this is so real and such a real possibility. It's interesting that you talk about the stock market crashing and not recovering. There is much talk about it crashing next month.

Now is the time to introduce Nibiru (aka planet X). Let Earth begin all over again. This is very well written with believable terrorist actions. There is very good imagery. Good job.

I must admit to having a strong visceral reaction to this chapter, Gayle. Which is a testament to your writing. I'm surprised that more terrorists don't try to take out the many bridges interlacing our national ports of call. Or maybe they do and the FBI thwarts them. In any case, you present a most chilling scenario, that seems frighteningly possible.

I think you will be better received if you just share what you know about Isis. However, one never knows how that will be received. We live in dangerous times.

Very interesting, but not shocking if you know about Isis and if you study
Scripture. I believe this could happen. I think it is well written. I didn't really check for spelling and grammar because I am having some trouble with my eyes.
I look forward to reading more.

Gayle, I just want you to know how impressed I am by your inspired post. It just "feels right" and I pray I'm wrong about that.

Okay, you've established the conflict, ramped it up. The dramatic arc is at its peak ... now where are the Marines or the Calvary.

I'm not kidding you, Gayle, you set the bar so high on the conflict end, I don't see any way it can be overcome ... unless ... the Apocalypse? Would you believe AS I WROTE THESE WORDS I looked up and read the background.

Ah, well ...

Why is it I remember reading some of this before? The part about the bridges and the Longshoremen being armed. It all seems so familiar to me.

GREAT job, Gayle. Sorry I have no sixes to give you, but what good is a six at the End of time?

Hi, Gayle. Thanks for taking time to read the chapter. I appreciate your encouragement and support very much.

Hi Bev, another great one!

Glad you bring Jujee's personality out as well as the kind of home life she has. Sounds like her mother is totally self absorbed and has no time for her daughter.

Great job,

Hugs,
Gayle

Thank you Gayle for your kind remarks and interest in my poetry. Spectacular! I bet it was from the highway. My experience driving in a car during a earthquake (7.1 richter) was I didnt feel anything, but saw windows in the town shatter. This was in California driving from L.A. to San Francisco a long time ago.

Hi Allan, very good visuals here, really enjoyed it. I was traveling down the freeway when it blew, just an incredible feeling as something we'd all been waiting for and wondering about happened. Spectacular sight.

Good job and thanks for sharing,
Gayle

I LOVE Kay Hooper, Gayle. She's got some great characters. So, I'm very honored by the comparison.

I've got the first ten chapters ready to go out to Rama Devi for editing. She's been working with me for about a year on various projects and we pretty much see eye-to-eye.

I have to tell you that when I saw the picture of ISIS bombing the Eqyptian ship, your story immediately came to mind. I feel they're shadow governments aiming to make this world a very nasty place. I keep praying for the strength for myself and my family to remain faithful to His word no matter what may come.

Anyway, great talking 'with' you, my friend.

Hugs, Bev

I loved this book, Bev, and I'm so glad to see it again. I don't remember enough to spoil the read, just enough to know I want more. This is my fave genre to read - wish I could write it but I can't. You, on the other, do a masterful job!

Wonderful chapter,

Hugs
