Susan Larson

Robert Zimmerman
Hello Susan.

Thank you for your kind words about the content of the essay. The only reason they would do it is for personal gain. I do not find most of those people to be altruistic.

In order to amuse myself, I am keeping a list of all the names that I and people that think like me, are called. My favorite one so far has been a "boomer rube." I guess they are right on both parts. I am a Baby Boomer and a rube.

I'm working on an essay called entropy which is Newton's second law of thermodynamics. I'm comparing it to our post modern culture.

The people that are the most "compassionate" are the ones using the ugliest language.

Robert, I agree with everything you say here. I still don't understand why liberals think people with communicable diseases, criminal records and no desire to work should just stream across the border while those hre legally had to jump through all the hoops. Whenever I say anything , I'm bigoted, racist and insensitive. I'm so sick of it.

Ah, Susan!
What a thoughtful and heartfelt review!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and kind words.
I must read "Grandfather Buffalo!"
My husband just turned seventy, and he is incredibly fit and athletic. And at 6'5" he definitely has long legs! We just became grandparents in August of this past year - having waited nine years! And last week, we became grandparents for the second time!
We just returned last night from visiting our 7 month old grandson, and believe me, we walked and walked - albeit he was carried! :)
This coming weekend we are headed to Colorado to meet grandson #2; hoping to be able to walk along with him as well!
And so the cycle of traditions continue...

So very pleased my few words resonated with you!

Wishing you a beautiful week!
Thank you!

Walking Along With Grandpa by Mrs. KT

Oh, Diane, I'm a generation ahead of you. Never had walks with grandpa, but my grandkids now wait for grandpa to catch up. There's a book, Grandfather Buffalo, about Grandfather Buffalo being slow and sleepy but he's still part of the herd. That's how I explain grandpa to them. When we were first married we hiked a lot and I had to hop, skip and jump to keep up with him and his long legs. He'd tease me and say you never got over being a cheerleader, did you. Now I'm married to Grandfather Buffalo. Can you tell I was really touched by this?

Wasn't it a curious thing to see an old lady swooning over some man half her she? My grandmother had a thing for Tab Hunter. She would pull a chair up close to the tv to soak him in. How could a woman get turned on over a man young enough to be he grandson? Well, now that I'm in my 70's i understand.

Thank you for reading
I think I started to talk with the idea of imagination for a rhyming poem and found that I wrote something very genuine.
Sometimes when I write, it happens that something I need to say pops out.

You are not specific about the trauma you experienced as a child, but as one who had a childhood she loved to escape, I too liked to fall
Into dreams or daydreams. I was very taken by your poem.

How interesting to couple gambling with dancing, as the wheel twirls, with no control,
Yet with the controlled rhythm of dancing, letting things fall as they may along the dance floor. Best of luck in the contest.

Oh what a beautiful poem and what a beautifully romantic husband you are. Isn't the hibiscus the flower they put in wine to open up and blossom into a fuller life? Oh, what a wonderful gesture that was to begin your life together.

This is certainly quite a comprehensive compilation of advice for a good life. While I found some of it redundant and wordy, you still have a good message.

Hello Susan!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and review!
I think of poems as I am driving along! Most of my best work is from what I see, and believe me, Michigan's roads are filled with potholes and along their sides, "graveled ice banks" that make most of the roads look like a war zone! Well, the "battle" will be won as soon as spring makes her appearance!
Thank you again!

Having lived and walked and sloshed about those graveled ice banks, plow scarred roadways and slush fortresses for decades, it would never have occurred to me to write of them so poetically. Anyone who can do that ca. Get a poem out of anything!
