This work has reached the exceptional level
A new year brings new hope

After Covid

by Becky Kern-Taylor

A New year is here and I'm not sad.
Cause 2020 was really bad.
It started off great, but didn't last.
Catastrophe hit, as in the past.

A virus from China hit us hard.
Pandemic crept into our back yard.
The President stopped flights in and out.
We had to move fast, there was no doubt

But Covid kept spreading everywhere.
We weren't alone, but we got our share.
Our people were dying every day.
We needed a cure and right away.

But how to stop it was up for grabs.
We knew the answer was in our labs.
Working to find a cure, a vaccine.
Scientists worked full time on the scene.

Finally after almost a year.
We had vaccines to ease all our fear.
Many companies hit a home run.
But we all know there's work to be done.

Now we must pray this vaccine will halt.
Sickness and death that wasn't our fault.
Do we blame China? Was it a plan?
What does it matter? All of us can.

Be very grateful we did survive.
We must be thankful we're still alive.
Given another chance to reform
Living our life, conveying no harm.

Start off this new year with love, not hate.
Work very hard to make this year great.
Trust in the Lord, and know he is near.
Then we will have a Happy New Year.

We must all be hopeful and grateful at this point. Grateful that we are alive and hopeful that the pandemic is ending.
