A true story flash set in Delhi,India

Free School Under a Bridge

by Seshadri_Sreenivasan

It is an unusual school in an unusual location and is also run by an unusual teacher.
Rajesh Kumar is a poor shopkeeper by profession yet spends hours every morning teaching around 80 children from the poorest of the poor in India’s capital, Delhi.
His open-air classroom was born between pillars and beneath the tracks of the Delhi transit system. Every few minutes a train passes above, but the children continue studying unperturbed by its sounds. Anonymous donors have contributed food, books, clothes and shoes for the children.
Another incentive for the children to turn up for their studies.

True Story Flash contest entry

I had heard about this guy from a very poor family operating a makeshift school between two pillars of the aerial metro that runs across India's capital. I was deeply touched and decided to share this true story on Fan Story'
A 100-word count is not enough to write about the great sacrifice this poor man is making for the poorest of the poor underprivileged section of the society.
