What does it feel like to choose between heart and mind

Child's Heart - Adult's Mind

by Ritasher

Worn out, I gaze into the sky
Sky where a full moon's shining
Shining through darkness of my mind
Mind with the stars declining

Declining hopes, some wishes lost
Lost in a forest of the Unknown
Unknown pathways, like where Gretel
Gretel and Hansel were left alone

Alone misled children,
Children conquering my heart
Heart dreaming there was more to when
When the time comes to depart

Depart into mind's void
Void that I might have seen before
Before I find out, whatever it is
Is it not heavens that I'm longing for?

For what I hope, I'll make the best of time
Time where puzzled nights combine
Combine my wishes of the peace
Peace in child's heart and adult's mind

Loop Poetry Contest contest entry

We all have felt lost at some point in our lives. They say "listen to your heart", but what if your mind wants a totally different thing? What does it feel like to live with a childish - naive, loving heart and an unsettling, dark adult's mind?
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
