Is it May Today

by Dolly'sPoems

It's May today and I can hear the whispering of joy--
but first the cold and bitter wind has whipped up to annoy;
the mix of rain on window panes, the sky is dull and grey,
no spring-filled charm, a storm alarm, I can't believe it's May!

I tuck myself inside my house, and watch the weather change,
my hope is dashed as rain has smashed, my wish for sun to stage;
the howling sound is quite profound, the hail, it hits like stones,
my sinking heart, tears me apart, I'm full of moans and groans.

I beg the season to take hold and bring those warmer climes,
I want to wear my summer dress, show off my great designs;
to bare my toes in sandals too, and wear my sunny specs,
but spring can't show her fairer face, as winter still objects!
