The winding path of life that leads home.

The City of the Tomb

by papa55mike

The early morning sun lights the way of a weary traveler. An ancient man on a holy pilgrimage to the tomb of his God. A journey that began many years ago when he took a vow to live a godly life in service to all. His faith led him to a lonely existence with only his Lord for shelter, but the voyager has left many blessings behind.

There's a town upon a hill that fills the traveler's eyes with tears. His arduous trek is coming to an end.

A man watches him approach while sitting in the shade of an Olive tree. "My friend, will you join me for a drink of water and rest?"

The traveler smiles. "Yes, it would do this old body well, but only a moment." He slowly strolls beneath the tree then looks into His peaceful face with a smile like no other and eyes full of love. "If I may ask, is the tomb of my Lord in this city?"

With the calm voice of an angel, He answers, "Yes, o' worthy one, it is. When you have rested, I will lead you to it then welcome you home."
