Time keeper

by Quiet Guy

The black widow's birth mark is an ironic hex
The time piece we use shares principal in relation to vex
Time is running out and only nature knows how much is left
There are no grains of sand, only how much venom she injects
Her web is a lonesome place which is what one may expect
Let's just say her love life is one macabre of a mess
Suiters become dinner and then onto the next
She is calmness in chaos and feels excitement at the vibrations of stress
So wicked and beautiful as she waits in her nest
Tiny eyes and an obsidian body that shines, as does her crest
A bright red hourglass held by a mistress of death
A creature of the night, in the shadow of the day she rests
One that is feared by most and appreciated by less
Her nature is unapologetic and true which garners respect
She is a misunderstood time keeper that crawls on eight legs

Something I have always thought about is that the black widow's hourglass has always been there. Natures hourglass has a deadly irony being stamped on a venomous creature. Hopefully the background color of this poem along with the red font isn't harsh on the eyes. I appreciate your time :)
