Homeward Bound

by smileycloud

Birth Life Death and Taxes
A catchcry of despondent humanity

Every journey is dissimilar
The mind perceives that which the eye beholds
True or false
Even misleading
Oft the heart is persuaded to inherit misconceptions
Trusting a hollow fruitless cocoon
A deceptive sense of belonging pervades
Desirous of hiding in a feigned sanctuary
Discontent their patriarch
Futility their matriarch
Orphaned due to dissatisfaction and lack of purpose
fashions a thirsty soul
Complacence is imprudent

Our temporary home here on this Earth
as we know it
belongs to God
We are visitors travelling on just one of the avenues
on the map of our eternal life
In a fleeting flash
It too shall pass
Time displayed on a clock is not relevant in a spiritual kingdom

Our eternal home awaits
Appearing to us at that precise turning point
in this one continuous journey which we call life and death
The when and how inconsequential
Deliverance rests in His plan
The where and the why

Jesus is the Rock and the solid ground
on which to build our earthly house
Be wary of sinking into shifting sands
Peruse the Bible
Building resources are freely offered in the Word
His promises
His intents and purposes are true and just
whereas the pledges of false witnesses are untrustworthy

Ambiance in our home
well filtered with Jesus' purity
invites the Spirit to enlighten our mind
As light shines through a window

The body is the vessel containing our precious soul
which belongs to our Lord Jesus Saviour and Redeemer
Respect the temple for which we are charged to preserve and protect

Eyes are the windows to the soul
Practice caution in that which we seek and see
Trust not the temptations invading the heart
Lest the door for Jesus to enter be obstructed

Our feet must be suspicious when traversing
the path overgrown with clutter or confusion
Uncertainty can be a timely warning for chaotic turmoil

Touch all things which God has created
with respectful appreciation
Spread the gift of thoughtfulness and tenderness
Act becoming of a gentle soul
full of the fruits of the Spirit

Life is the garden we tend
In the blink of an eye the true and Master Gardener
will return like a thief in the night
Stay alert and be watchful in the garden of life
Weeds are misleading in their attraction
Pretty they well may appear
They grow quickly and rampantly
Wolves in sheep's clothing
Strangulation their principal resolve

Guardianship of the flock who follow Jesus
is a spiritual commitment
for His disciples
to seek one another's highest good
Speak softly with loving kindness
Be vigilant for the well-being of God's children
sitting on our porch
The measure of hospitality is in
a cool drink and an out stretched hand
Quench a thirst with the Living water
Accompany sheep through the field
safely to the Shepherd
Treasure the fellowship God has gifted and entrusted to mankind

The family we raise with selflessness
The home we build with love
Chores we do out of devotion and esteem
People met and cherished
Skills shaped and enhanced competencies
Service and care for our fellowman
All powers and gifts
instilled by the Holy Spirit
sent by Jesus
after the Ascension
Petitioning our soul to crave
Fervent longing for our Father
Prayerful companionship with our Lord God

This is our charter and covenant
The homeward bound journey

Psalm 24;1
"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,"
Ecclesiastes 3:11
"He has made everything beautiful in its time.
He has also set eternity in the human heart;
Yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
John 14:3
"And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back and welcome you into My presence,
so that you also may be where I am"
Luke 6:47-49
"Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them,
I will show you whom he is like:
He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock.
And when the flood arose,
the stream beat vehemently against that house,
and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.
But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation,
against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.
And the ruin of that house was great."
1 Corinthians 6:19
"Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,
who is in you, whom you have received from God
God used to abide in the temple in Jerusalem,
now He chooses to live in us"
Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law."
Matthew 13:38
"The field is the world,
and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom.
The weeds are the people of the evil one"
Romans 12:10
"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Honour one another above yourselves."
John 13:14
"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,
you also should wash one another's feet."
Galatians 5:13
"You, my brothers, were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
Ephesians 4:2
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
