The Way We Were

by Raffaelina Lowcock

The author has placed a warning on this post for sexual content.
It suddenly occurred to me
I love the way it used to be.
The courting that was oh so slow
As two faint hearts began to know,
First, we held hands, that led to hugs
We would be wary, watch for shrugs
And then soon we would just embrace
I would keep studying his face
Was that a loving look? Oh my
Now held tightly, then a sigh
And oh, at last, we shared a kiss
This might be love I feel such bliss
Feelings would blossom, and then bloom
Which led to thoughts of bride and groom.
Not  "wham bam and thank you, ma’am!"
