Never Thought I Was Smart.

by Becky Kern-Taylor

I never thought I was smart.
Never flaunted my talent.
Tried hard to be humble and kind.
Entertained the thought of becoming a professional dancer.
Loved tap dancing so thought maybe that was the path for me.
Learned I would have to leave my hometown.
Instead decided to teach dancing in my basement.
Gave out flyers and called lots of friends.
Every one was so supportive and sent their children to me.
Never felt like work, but taught thousands of kids.
Then after 38 years I retired, smart move.

This is true stuff, started my own studio in 1961, retired in 1998. What did I get out of it? Lots of satisfaction, many friends, good money and bad knees.
