True love cannot be denied

by David Sumich

Within her own fire this woman did lie
No room for another, no love she could buy
When Amour came a-knocking it had to be sly
The flames that she kept would simply not die.

Her greatest desire was her greatest burn
And each lover failed this lesson to learn
Their ashes had fallen each in their turn
Yet the pull of her passion still had its yearn.

Then one day came a man on the scene
Not really special but he did have a dream
With water so still yet deep underneath
His love did rain, it defeated her heat.
