A great rhyme, a really fun story, originality of expression - you have it all! It was such a fun read, I giggled reading this part:

Their sports bras have great trouble
Keeping sturdy control of the "girls."

Good job! :)

Thanks for the review! I've fallen in love with these two eccentric old ladies who seem to find trouble everywhere they go. If you enjoyed the poem check out my portfolio. There are four stories written about them. Their characters are becoming more to life every day.

This poem is delightfully clever and creative, not to mention humorous. I've visited seniors in nursing homes and know there are characters exactly like Myrtle and Mildred. I enjoyed reading this piece, and will be checking out your profile to see what other trouble these two were in.

I have worked in many nursing homes over the years. There is always a mischievous one or two. These two sound quite entertaining. I enjoyed the poem very much.

This is hilarious Patty, two great created characters, presumably your altar egos, that get up to the darndest things, this is a classic style poem Patty, you're a skilled technician, in these well written Crafted work. In tetrametric stanzas and abcb rhyming, well done, blessings Roy

This Humorous Rhyming Poem contest entry speaks in a free flow of thoughts about two aged lady friends, 60 years of their friendship, bullying in terms, sometimes heinous, good, bad, humorous, funny and amusing, well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

I really loved this. It's great to wake up with a smile and this poem provided that. Loved the fourth verse. Humour poetry is often difficult to write but you have excelled with Myrtle and Millie. Had this been my poem, I think I might have title it Myrtle & Millie.

Thanks for the great review! I have to agree with you about the title. In the beginning Myrtle always called Mildred by that full name. As the characters have developed it seems only natural that Myrtle would call her very best friend, Millie.
Recently, Mildred has on occasion referred to Myrtle as Mert. I've already been thinking of easing it in to Myrtle and Millie. I've already put out three Myrtle and Mildred Adventure stories. Trouble seems to find them no matter where they go. There is one adventure when they go Christmas shopping at the mall. Another story has them traveling to NYC to see the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The latest adventure is when Mildred has to have a colonoscopy. You can read all of them on my portfolio. There is only one day left of voting and then all the author's names will be revealed, then if you want to read the adventures you will be able to then. Thanks again for the great review!

ha ha ha! This is the first time I've run across Myrtle and Mildred, but I'm sure it won't be the last! This was a funny and clever poem. I especially liked this part because I can see it in my imagination very easily:
"Orange and green sweatbands
Hair in tangles and wispy gray curls
Their sports bras have great trouble
Keeping sturdy control of the "girls."
Thank you for sharing! I look forward to future adventures.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I absolutely loved this poetic story of Myrtle and Mildred. You did an an excellent job and brought a few laughs from me as you described this fabulous couple:

Now seventy years later
Myrtle and Millie, still best of friends.
Wearing orthopedic running shoes
And double strength Depends.

Fantastic visuals, imagery, an award winning and presentation.

Good luck in the contest. I think, I see a winner.

This is really funny. I've known people like this pair, although not quite as mischievous. I love the imagery and humor in your poem, thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest. :)
