I am so glad you have another companion. He sounds like such a sweet dog. Love your words, they touch the heart. I like how the poem is from the view of a dog in a shelter. My husband and I recently adopted a cat from a shelter. Excellent poem that gives a voice to a canine in need.

Hello my friend, Thanks so much for reading. How is your adopted cat? Benny poodle is settling in, so loving, so obedient. He put out three teenagers hiding in my backyard. The police were searching for them. They jumped my back fence straight into the arms of the law! I am a cat lover but live on a busy road and cats do roam. Love, K xx

I am so glad your dog is there to protect you! Dogs usually are better protector than cats. My adopted cat Minnie is my baby. She follows me to the door when I go to work. We keep both our cats indoors, we live too close to a road and there is much wildlife where we live. Elaine

Hello Elaine, I'm late with replies. Benny poodle is a good guard dog, only had hm a month. Funny little ways, never owned a poodle before. He is very sensitive and clever. Like you, I would prefer a cat - main road stopped me. Love K xx

Benny is gorgeous, and it is so good that you found each other to love. A lovely rhyming poem written from Benny's POV of being on the street, to the pound to finding a home with you. Nicely done on both counts,
cheers,
valda

G'day my friend Alie. Thanks for reading. He is well trained and a beautiful dog, a senior @ 7 yrs old. I love him and he loves me (and my bed!) He was very skinny, I'm feeding him up and he thinks all his Christmases have come at once. Love, Kace xx

Aww you are so welcome, my friend. That is a wonderful thought that he is having all his Christmases at one time. He is meant to be spoiled.

In addition to being a most handsome sir, Benny looks very wise. He must be, because he picked you to be his Mum.

A fine rhymed poem for the contest, K, and filled with loving sentiment sure to capture the hearts of many.

Great job here, and best of luck with the Committee. :)

G'day my friend, Thank you for reading and the sixer. He is more clever than me! Poodle x Maltese (just the Maltese face) totally trained and I will always wonder what happened to his owners. We couldn't find them via his microchip. There were 5 people wanting him but my friend is a supervisor there and she even got $50 off. Normally, rescue dogs cost $350 which includes needles, worming and desexing. He was all ready desexed. He is a mature 7 yr old, that works with my age (be 76 in Sept) so gentle and never steps out of line or jumps on me. Poodles are so clever and if I am driving my wheelchair down the hallway, he backs into a room? Amazing Sir Benny. God knows our needs. Thanks again, bless you, K XX

I like this poem from the stray dog's point of view. It shows his/her life and how having someone to love and love us is what we all seek.
Good luck, keep writing and stay healthy

Aussie,

It's a wonderful thing when the right match is made. *smile* In this case, any match would have been sufficient for a poor pup down on his luck, but it sounds like he got far more than that. Sweet lucky pooch.

What a sweet story!

Hello Robyn, I had been grieving since Feb. Tried to get a shelter dog to no avail. My friend is a supervisor at a shelter and Benny came in; couldn't find owners on his microchip - she applied for him and got him for me. He is a very well-trained dog. God knows our needs. Blessings, Kay xx (he is 7 just right because I am 75.

Adorable!

How could he have been living on the streets, abandoned? His face is so sweet and lovable. I am thrilled that both of you have found a new love and will be forever together now.

Smiles, Carol

Hello Carol, Thank you so much for reading. He was handed into the shelter, very skinny. Tried to contact owners via his microchip to no avail. He loves me and the hole in my heart has been filled after losing my dog in Feb. Blessings, Kay xx

Oh, Benny is SO cute! Your charming, touching poem conveys a powerful message about the need to be wanted and loved. People and animals are much alike in many ways.

This is such an endearing poem, Kace. I love it! The rhymes are very good and the heartfelt emotion for your new little fur ball just sets this one above others. A very enjoyable read and I wish you good luck.

Yay, yay, yay. I remember when you posted about losing your dog. I also remember thinking "I hope she gets another dog soon."
Benny is adorable. And, he is very lucky to have you. Who would ever abandon any dog? People like that just aren't human.
May you and Benny enjoy each other's company for years. This news makes my day. And I love your ode to Benny.

Hello Debbie, Yes, I remember posting about losing Toby at age 16.
Benny is a shelter dog, found wandering. Five people wanted him but my friend is a supervisor and she applied for him, my forever dog now. Much love, Kace xx
