I am sorry about the contest. I did enjoy reading. Your creativity amazes me.

"We, we so excited. Looking forward to the wkd", (All commas go inside the quotation marks. You have additional dialogue that need to be corrected. As a retired teacher, I wouldn't let wkd pass. LOL)

Thank you Barbara! I had originally planned make this entry much more offensive but the song provided a more subtle and pun-worthy alternative. So yes you are absolutely right about the commas. I have thought about this quite a bit. This is one instance in which I concluded I prefer the English (non-American) style of putting the comma outside the quotes. The reason is that, both linguistically and as a programmatic/syntactical approach, I feel the English style makes better sense. People don't speak with commas at the end of phases. There is likely a good counterpoint to this argument though -- namely, that all quotes ought to conclude with some form of punctuation and the comma is excluded if a question mark or exclamation point is used instead; those are rendered inside the quote in English phraseology too, so the American standard is actually more consistent. I just think it looks kind of weird. Maybe that is because I am technically within the millennial cutoff, and millennials are notorious for leaving punctuation off their texts to their mothers. But I grew up being taught hybrid grammar, since my dad learned on the British system, even though he likes Americans much better. So that's my explanation -- at least it was deliberate, but please DO keep looking for errors in my writing. You have caught some key errors for me and saved me from disaster on one occasion : )
Yes the CEC seems to be intent on disqualifying as much of my writing as they can get away with. I wonder who the puppet master is.

I find this curious because the only difference I see in writing UK dialogue and English dialogue is Uk write it, example, 'Hello, Joe,'. They use a single quotation mark but the commas remain inside them.

When I first looked it up, I found this.

Yes, that is the way we do it also when the speech tag is at the beginning, but when it's at the end it's written with the comma on the inside.

I had a disqualification situation similar to yours When I commented on it, I was informed that it is my responsibility to be aware of time zones and how that might affect the ending times. That didn't make me feel any better nor did losing the "dollars" I spent to enter the contest. Sorry you ran into a problem too.

My only comment on your poem is that I'm not sure if you meat "terrifying" or 'terrified' in describing Rebecca Black.

Interesting post for the contest that knocked you out early. Partly political satire, social commentary, ethically disturbing, and prophetic warning of the dangers of thought control.
