Dean,
If this doesn't bring tears to one's eyes, then s/he is missing the point. The very fact that it is posted, read, & reviewed alludes to the premise that we are free because of the men & women in the military who fought & died for our freedom.

Your poem is awesome. I am not familiar with the format. However, I can say there is great rhyme, super flow, perfect artwork, & an awesome message.

Each piece of art is appropriate in adding emphasis to your poem.

You did a great job with the historical significance & showing how war still is in our minds today.

While we did learn much about how war is fought & its aftermath, many things still remain that need improving--such as the treatment of Veterans.

I know you are a former Marine. Thank you for your service.

Thank you for writing & sharing this poignant poem.

Excellent! Jan

The greatest generation fought the greatest war.
The battle of Normandy was a blood bath. The U.S. and their allies finally got the upper hand and Hitler was defeated. This poem was a grim reminder that freedom is never free.
The price is very steep. Thank you for your service Dean. God bless America and keep her strong. X Nancy

Because their war had a purpose, and the front kept moving toward victory, I think the GIs had less mental problems than the men from today's stalled and aimless
wars. They had a cause, they were heroes, and they knew it. Mostly draftees, they made up the noblest army ever. Good salute, Dean. I was four days old on D-day.

Man! can you write. This read smooth as silk and told the story well.
This gave me goose pimples and bought a tear to my eye. So few of the crying youth know why they are aloud to wine. I wonder if the progressives that control what the kids are taught even bother to teach about the brave youth, of the forties, that gave so much. They should march in the Arlington square mile of graves rather than the streets of our cities. Your work evokes such deep thought. You are truly blessed.
Thanks for the write Jax

Your fine poem is excellent, Dean. This Pantygynt is a tough form but you've done it well. The faces of the young men in the photo break my heart. You have delved into the futility of war, so many lost for freedom's sake. But what can we do when the world is threatened with evil? God bless the bravery of them all, today and every day.

Yesterday was the 241st birthday of the Marines, as you know, I'm sure. My son and son-in-law both Marines as I think you were, too. Marilyn
