Quite enjoyable, Dean.

Now, what to say?
I don't think you or this poem
need my help.

What to do, oh my, what to do?

Well...chat is fun, but I'm tired,
so I'll just run to the snake pit
where I sleep.

smile,

victor

I hope F/S gives this a seven. I know. They are few and
far between and I've had a couple. But this one offers
such hope. Competition is not the way to determine who
is superior. All the best in the contest, Dean.

This poem is cute! It has a fun rhythm and a good theme about respecting others despite their differences. I could actually see this as a poem for children, especially for around Halloween. This poem also makes me want to go trick-or-treating. Oh, to be a child again!

-The graphics and presentation are great.
-I really like how you use many of the
special occasions to interact with Halloween;
it is so clever and well written, Dean.
-Great imagery, use of dialogue,
meter, and rhyme.
-You have created your own little characters.
-I also like how you include Stephen King,
and he has a great idea:
"He went to his attic and found some disguises"
-The holidays all love it and want to do it again!
-Great entry; hope you do really well in the contest.

Hello Dean,
A most excellent poem for the Halloween contest.
I think Halloween is for kids and that is exactly what this poem is.
You must have been eating some of that sweet Halloween chocolate
Halloween was always one my favorite holidays
Of course, there was also, Snow Day
one of the moveable holidays that blew in on a winter night
Great concept for a Halloween poem
Well done
Best wishes to you
RS

What a simply delightful, entertaining read as 'the holidays gather to promote the expansion /of Halloween cheer throughout nighbourhood streets' -love the 'characters'!

hahahaha!

You must not know my family. *smile* My kids think Halloween is one of the top holidays ever created! I think it ties with Christmas -- and it may even be edging Christmas out a bit, year by year. It's sad, really. They get so excited and decorate their houses up as soon as they can. --sigh-- What's happened to the world??

hahaha

I really enjoyed this one, Dean. The only nit is your misspelling of 'Halloween' in the description. Thank you!

    Oops!
Thank you for pointing out that typo in the description, Robyn. It's all fixed up now (I hope!).
    I love Halloween myself, obviously.
Each year we put on a charity haunted hayride, all privately funded by us and donations.
We collect canned goods and non-perishable food items as an admission fee for local food banks in our area.
Still, as much fun as it is creating the sets, making up the characters and scaring the life outta people, no holiday tops the meaning of Christmas.
    Thanks so much for reading.
    ~Dean :)

Last year we nearly filled a 55 gallon drum. We took in over 1,000 pounds of food and distributed it between 3 local food banks.
We're all very happy to be able to do it. :)

Hi Dean,
Very nice indeed, my fiend, very nice.

Easily the best Halloween piece I've read thus far. Little one agrees. Just like 'Nightmare Before Christmas' is here verdict... who am I to argue. lol

All the best

Wow! isn't that a change of tone for you? What a lovely idea to personify the holidays and then make them brag and look down on poor Halloween.
And you brought in Stephen King ,King of horror and supernatural fiction to play the mediator.
And he did play a good role too. christmas chosing to be Sandy Claws and Fourth of July general Patton is quite appropriate.

All the best for the contest. you should win this .It is quite different and sends a very good message across too.
