Wonderfully clever. You have outdone yourself with the holiday stereotypes and their new images. I loved Thanksgiving belching and snoring...Thanks for loosening up this group so they, too, can enjoy a holiday. Did Halloween take the night off?

You have long been the best poet in this genre, my friend -- at times (and this is one such) even surpassing Poe, your inspiration, as you have a great sense of humor too. Other holidays, never intended to be commercialized, sadly are; but Halloween (I fondly call it "Wester" because of its position in the year) is just fun, if we can ignore the real creeps who try to ruin it by doing harmful things.

Personifying all the main holidays and having them argue over which is best is a stroke of genius here, and having Valentine's (Day [which is why the apostrophe is correct]) lovingly take Halloween's side is quite fitting, as is Thanksgiving's overfed behavior. "ALL of us matter" is a great swipe at divisiveness along the way, especially fitting as shouted by Halloween, which certainly is a holiday of acceptance of diversity (no matter how extreme).

Having Stephen King come up with costumes for the other holidays is another splendid part of this amusing romp, and the apt choices made (such as Fourth of July dressed up as Patton) adds to the effect. That all had fun and wanted to do it again in future years is not surprising, and a most satisfactory resolution of the original debate.

Finally, in your genuine (though not always as obvious) warm-hearted manner, you urge us to be kind to the Trick-or-Treaters soon to flock to our doors.

Your chosen illustrations, as usual, enhance the overall effect.

Superb. This is a winner in every aspect.

Very creative in concept and delivery. Lovely poetry too. The entire project is very well planned. The idea of having various holidays debate and the introduction of each holiday into the debate is ingenious. The Illustrations are particularly

Excellent. Clever concept. Poem flows, the rhyme works. The only thing that didn't work for me was "Bangor", somehow it is flat.

I love the approach, Dean. Love the personalization of the holidays. There is just one negative - and that's within me; has nothing to do with the writing... I hate Stephen King! Where horror is concerned, he simply writes of sick, perverted stuff. He, and the sex pervert Woody Allen, are the two people I detest the most. Oh, well.

Love the personification of the holidays. 4th of July dressing as Gen. Patton was vlassic. Very easy to read with a good rhythm. Love that even in z holiday land Stephen King is still a master. Well done and thanks for kicking off the Halloween season. Gretchen

Dean, you have written a Halloween poem that should appeal to all ages. I really enjoyed how Stephen King came to the aid of poor Halloween. As always great visuals to accompany your poem. A delightful read to set the tone for the upcoming holiday. Rod

I bet you thought of me as you wrote this one - I didn't once bite my nail nor turn the volume down to 0% for the volume. I was soon swaying, near about swooning,
seeing how smoothly I could sashay past Halloween to lend Sweetest Day my ears.

As I ventured forth, Thanksgiving and Christmas and Sandy tucked me in the comfy chair by the fireplace, turkey in the belly and tons of chocolate to snack on...

"Halloween with Stephen King," penned by the Dean of goblins and ghouls of gloom and doom. Thanks for sharing and wishing you the best of luck in the contest. Not that you need any, when you're on the VIP list of the underworld. Great job. :-)

Here we have the epitome of creativity, even beginning with the imagination of this abstract yet brilliant work. The packaging and delivery of this work is magnificent....pure top drawer HOLLYWOOD class. I cannot offer enough claps on these old hands or I'd have to quit Fanstory for a year to recover my fingers. My sincere thanks for a marvelous and delightful experience. HIS GRAYNESS; Vance
