This quick fable ends with a good note to remember. It never hurts to find yourself in the line that's giving dough away. The worst case scenario is waking up with your clothes on inside out.

That was awesome. I really liked the twist in the ending. I actually never saw it coming. I thought the gangsters were like spys for an evil titan or something. Good job. I really liked it. Keep up the good work.

I wanted to give you a heads-up. The contest announcement says the ending sentence must start with And the moral of the story is...

However, the final sentence of this story is: Taking a gamble really pays off!

Be sure your ending sentence starts And the moral of the story is

I really liked this one. It makes the most sense of the ones I've read. It sounds like it could happen and since you have it listed as nonfiction, I imagine it did. It pays to take a chance. These guys probably didn't need it and you probably made them feel good that they gave it to someone who needed it. Even gangsters have feeling. You solved they problem and yours. Your moral could also be "Ask and you shall receive."

This is an interesting entry for the Write A Modern Fable writing contest with a good moral ending to cap it off. You were smart to cash in the chip before gambling it away. I assume you did!

Who says only the house wins in Las Vegas? I give you props for gumption.

Best of luck at the polls.

Peace, Lee

They looked at themselves--perhaps it would be better put 'They looked among themselves? Or, They looked at each other? Or, They exchanged glances? Just a thought.

Your finalising moral is so true... if you ask you have a 50 percent chance of getting it. Either a yes or a no. How brave of you to attract the attention of possible mobsters. I wouldn't have been there in the first place! I hope you had fun spending that $100!

You have written a nice contemporary story fable with an appropriate moral; you ask for what you want on casino at the hotel that proves your challenging spirit as you never worry for your association with Vegas gangsters; well said, well done; enjoyed the read; thanks for sharing this; keep posting. Good luck. ALCREATOR

So happy that your "bet" turned out to be a winner :"The moral of the story is: If you ask for what you want, people are likely to chip in to help you get it. Taking a gamble really pays off!" Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Yes, looking back at my young self, my bold request could have turned sour, but instead it turned into a fable on fanstory. Who would've thought? Thank you so much for your review!
