camaria: Just curious, is the contest committee swayed at all by how well a contest submitted work is promoted? In other words, is a decently written piece at a disadvantage if unpromoted, as compared to a similar piece of writing that has been promoted through the roof? -
RGstar: Hi! When it comes down to a contest committee, regardless if promoted high or low makes no difference. Doubt if they even look at the figures, only the submissions, thereby judging them on their own merit. It may be that they agree with the majority if that write has great feed back as it may be a work that is exceptional to most, and so would be no different, them being a part of the majority, but, in terms of promotion, no. I have seen poems with less than 30 dollars win strong committee led competitions. High promotions influence the amount of feed back you receive, and page one, allows your work to be seen by as many as possible.
Best wishes -
