Jewell McChesney: Your poetic words slipped into a silky little number and brushed by me like feathers floating in the wind. Just as the breeze dwindled, one landed and remained like an arrow in my soul. ~ Jewell McChesney

hager: You may tiptoe here and there
or slice an apple with your pair
of eyes that is or shall I say miss,
forgive this, it's just a prelude of
    an archers quivering quill -

Jewell McChesney: Challenge me!
Give me three words to use in a poem or a title.
I'll take you up on it.
    michaelcahill: failure, allure, enamored -
    Debra White: wiggly
    wobbly

Jewell McChesney: I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires.
~Kahlil Gibran

Jewell McChesney: Sometimes I say to a poem,
"I don't have the strength
To wring out another drop
Of the sun."

And the poem will often
Respond
By climbing onto a barroom table:
Then lifts its skirt, winks,
Causing the whole sky to
Fall. ~Haziz
Siouxsun: you are wonderfully talented -
mickbey: Hello, and I popped in to tell you how much I loved the poetry of your profile, a really beautiful way to describe things, and yourself, good luck in everything.
    -

Jewell McChesney: You will hear thunder and remember me,
And think: she wanted storms. The rim
Of the sky will be the colour of hard crimson,
And your heart, as it was then, will be on fire.
Anna Akhmatova
Tonulak: Curious, that you are quoting Akhmatova...You might have read my four-poem cycle on her in these pages. I'm so pleased that I might have in some small way stimulated intrest in one of my favorite Russian poets. I loved the one you chose for this page:) Best--Ted -

Jewell McChesney: Hi it's me, VisionaryPoet777 with a new name.
Not a huge change but thought I'd change it up as to not be confused with Sharon any more.
Jean Lutz: Just another way to describe YOU, my long time friend! -
Jewell McChesney: Hello my Jean! Love you.
    -

Jewell McChesney: Poetry comes from the heart. I do not care for the academic assessment of poetry. Academics can put forth their hypothesis but poetry is like dancing. It springs from deep in the soul. It is an uncontrolled energy which needs to be expressed. The explosion of the inner feeling of the writer's emotions. The lava of the soul.

    Larissa B: yes...;) -
    Seeing101: well said -
MissMerri: I believe that to be absolutely true, Jewell. So glad you found that quote! How nice to read that this afternoon. Thanks! -
Maureen's Pen: Yes indeed - a fabulous quote and true.
    Thanks for sharing it. -
    Xylok: wow, that's powerful. -

Jewell McChesney: I want to see the thirst inside syllables
I want to touch the fire in the sound.
I want to feel the darkness in the cry
I want words as rough as virgin rocks.
Pablo Neruda
SheWolfNLust: I want to feel a love as it surrounds
I want to touch what a heart offers
I want words with reach to a poets soul
I want to fit in that perfect fit.
    -
SheWolfNLust: a most stunning quote, I love Neruda as well
    -
SheWolfNLust: I truly enjoy reading much of your poetry and find it absolutely stunning, rich with metaphors and visual imaginary, I am sad though as it wouldn't let me respond or comment, but just the same I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading you xoxo -

Jewell McChesney: I enjoy it when others have a gift of gab and can put it poetically.
It's like being invited to a waltz for the eyes or fine wine tasting for the soul.

Jewell McChesney: "Next time I'm starved
feed me an epiphany, instead of
20 boxes of cereal and an entire
loaf of bread." ©2012 Susan Mrosek

Jewell McChesney: Rules of grammar in case you've let it slip your mind.

Jewell McChesney: Happy Autumn!!

TREES
I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Joyce Kilmer
Sarkems: Now can anyone remember the name of the song by Juliana Hatfield that uses the first four lines of that poem? -
adewpearl: My boyfriend in high school, who eventually became my husband, used to make fun of me for loving this poem. He thought it was way too sappy, excuse the pun. And I still love it to this day :-) Emsey, I looked up the answer to your question, but I won't post it since I cheated to get it. LOL -
Jewell McChesney: I just saw this question posed. I have no clue! -

Jewell McChesney: Keep silence
don't rush to finish your poem
the finisher of the poem
the creator of the word
will begin to arrive..!
~Rumi
Bicpen: "In the beginnig was the word..." -
rama devi: Rumi is my favorite poet! -
Jewell McChesney: I think Pablo Neruda is my fave but I do love Rumi's wisdom. -
oozer: Well! Well! Congrats to you! Brooke
and I am not surprised. -
    Jewell McChesney: huh? -
rama devi: Rumi is my favorite (along with Hafiz) -

5-7-5 An Introspection In Seventeen Syllables Moments I Have Lived
I have found it rather amazing that an existence of time can be expressed in such few words and yet provide a specific and definitive explanation.

Great reviews:
Raw with emotion - love and pain, regrets and hope, truth and tragedy. It touched me at points, made me choke up.
