The Shield and the Sword

by poetwatch

As long as I can remember or recall
You've been with me through thick and thin, my Lord.
In times of trouble, in times of walking tall
I'm comforted by your shield and by your sword.
With your love as my shield I shall not fall
As your sword cuts through the lies I am restored.
I see the goodness within mankind,
But the twisted-tongues of deceit are not kind.

As men follow their rights and religion,
The lies from darkness stains the righteous truth.
People rise like demons called to action
As Shadow-men laugh, their kiss becomes your breath.
Woe be you who drinks the dregs of destruction,
You'll taste the putrid poison of your death.
You've lost your shield with the blood on your sword.
You ignored our Lord, the pit is your reward.

Yet, I'm only a man born of mortal sin,
The words whispered in my ear is what I write.
There's a voice fighting against the darkest din,
Hoping that in rhyme you can see the light.
The voice in this wilderness speaks from within.
I just write his message for your ears of sight.
Listen to what I write and see what he says.
Believe in the truth, and follow the Lord's ways.

I know it sounds crazy, but I write what my heart hears.
I'm writing on a small notebook and need your help because I make many mistakes. :)
