A Sonnet

Old Age is Fruitful

by Dolly'sPoems

If we should live beyond the years God planned,
and suffer with the ailments of old age;
when sight and sound and movement over land
are thus impaired by stolen years on stage.

And crippled with the curse of too much time--
decaying mind and body . . . walking dead;
the failing parts that lose that youthful chime,
is all because we lived too long instead.

So think not of complaint about oneself
if life is blessed with extra years on earth;
embrace the fact that history is wealth,
although one's memory may not have worth.

Our many years of life we should defend,
as long as it is fruitful 'til the end.
