Halloween Poem

McGee's Halloween

by Wils

It sits atop the township hill
The residence of Doc McGee
Once stately grand, now falling down
Built above a cemetery
Doc McGee he was a man
who was a favourite in the town
Birthed all the babies that you see
Body found, the doc did drown
Every night on Halloween
Spirits gather in the halls
Risen up from graves below
Ghostly party in those walls
On their trick-or-treating walk
People hear the sounds of fun
Music sounds from on the hill
But no humans, not a-one
Old folk who live long in town
Know the truth of Doc McGee
How he chose to end his life
Thus he hosts this ghost party
Seniors are not scared to die
They know when they go below
Every year they’ll reappear
At McGee’s Halloween show
