Tanka(when she sees the light)

when she sees the light
natural beauty shines through
aha haiku face
gloriously her cheeks fill
with a mischievous smile

Writing Prompt

Tanka is a Japanese form of poetry consisting of five lines OR five phrases in five lines, in 31 or fewer syllables, preferably formatted short/long/short/long/long. This contest does NOT require the strict 5-7-5-7-7 structure. Please read ALL rules thoroughly before entering. Your poem will be monitored. Nothing crude or rude will be allowed, so please keep your poem clean or it will be disqualified.

-involve human nature or the human element
-have a pivot, shift, or turn line
-can have simile; metaphor; personification
-often use a seasonal reference, or nature imagery
-can be enhanced with artwork
-should be titled as follows: tanka (first line of poem) e.g. tanka (beer cans strewn)


Inspired by Gloria (emmex) for her haiku face. I liked that thought so much I tried to write about it. Here's to you Gloria!
