Life experiences shape my faith
"I Know God Cares" by BethShelby
At two, my mom taught me to pray.
She said our prayers are heard.
A child knows Mom would never lie.
I took her at her word.
A cyclone struck when I was ten.
Airborne, I was afraid.
I begged for God to spare my life.
He heard the words I prayed.
An angel brought me back to earth,
without a single scratch.
I know God heard my prayer that day.
His mercy knows no match.
I haven’t always walked with him-
I was inclined to stray,
but he has always lured me back
into the narrow way.
When doubt creeps in, I hear his voice.
He calls me to return-
to sit beside the Master’s feet.
and from his word, to learn.
Throughout my life, He’s guided me,
protecting me from harm.
I know the Saviour has my back.
Why should I feel alarm?
Dark days will come for one and all,
but God will shine a light.
He'll guide our feet throughout our life,
and leads us through the night.
I know God cares for each of us.
He wants us for his own.
He sent his Son to die for us.
That’s how His love is shown.

Author Notes
The Tornado story is true. I didn't see an angel, but I felt the presence and I was brought gently back to earth and found myself in a sitting position on a rafter.
