Marillion is David Nelson Bradsher, a self-constructed Byronic Hero (or Zero), flawed but well-meaning, simple but paradoxical, and still a work in progress.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) in 1989 with a B - more...

The Seal of Quality committee has rewarded him with 5 seals.

Portfolio | Become A Fan
On Highway 98, it sits alone,
subjected to the din of traffic sounds
beyond a sun-browned lawn so overgrown
it seems a grassy tide has rushed the grounds.

The house is stately, raised in 1930,
and far removed from what would be its prime.
Its shutters hang, half-hinged; the brick is dirty,
a gritty witness to the stain of time.

But hope remains behind the sad display,
a distant thrum that shakes its dusty bones.
There is a heart restarting here today,
a throaty bass beneath the hardwood groans.

The beat is faint, but grows with every minute,
and every creak assures there's life left in it.

Author Notes
Sonnet in iambic pentameter, with feminine endings in L1/L3, and L13/L14.

This was inspired by finally arranging to go inside a house I'd passed for years, but had never stopped at. It went for sale and I just had to see what it looked like. A beautiful shell, and still so much potential.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
