 ABOUT
JASON A. KILGORE

I write fantasy novels and short fiction for fantasy, sci fi, and supernatural. Occasionally there's a bit of poetry or essay, too, just cuz I vainly think I can do it all....

Old friends and old memories
"The Ghosts In My Head" by Jason A. Kilgore
No truer hearts can hold than those of old best friends.
Intimate hours, never cold, lead to truths no heart pretends.

How much I hold them dear, those days of silly play.
Talk of girls and inner fears, all our secrets we betrayed.

I see them still before me like colored shadows dancing,
Echoes of a childhood dream still haunting me, entrancing.

We went our different ways, us spirits bound at heart,
Promised reunion days to keep us close apart.

Still, the years lead different paths, and each way grows distant by the hour.
We sought to keep us fast, but the sweetest grapes will sour.

Sometimes these friends of mine come wisping across my stead.
And in the quiet darkness, think I, they are ghosts here in my head.
