Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
My path changes, but it is always MY path
"My Path" by Marilyn Lou Berry
I've walked this path
I walk it yet
In dreams through Daliesque forests:
With over-extended bending nests,
Dripping branches ala Pollock,
And pinecone-covered forest floor.

I walk it yet
In chilly nightmares
Deep and dank,
Reeking with fear
Smeared on collapsing walls of caves
That hold my hopes,
Where icy daggers
Fall from disintegrating ceilings
Nearly piercing my bravado,
Challenging my every step.

I shall forevermore walk this, my path
Beneath both warming, sunny skies
And bitterly frigid firmament
With hopes and dreams
Evolving, often dashed and shredded
Often born anew, foresight-fresh, and thrilling.

This is my fate:
To survive the thunderbolt
To sow and scatter
The seeds of my destiny.

Author Notes
I'm a spiritual rather than religious person and I am beginning to see and feel more than ever. I was on the brink of death when I was sent to the ER with a blood sugar of 811 and I came out of that with changes I am still discovering. I was at the right place at the right time with the right person (my diabetes specialist nurse) so I was not meant to go just yet.
