What is a bullamaroo
"A bullamaroo" by Mary Vigasin
I am a bullamaroo ....
At least that was what my angry Nana would call me.
Exactly what is a bullamaroo?
I have no idea.
I once asked Nana's Canadian nephew: "What is a bullamaroo?"
His only response is that I did not want to know.
To figure it out I had to see myself through my Nana's eyes.
She saw me as obstinate. I know she was wrong.
She saw me as hating her. I know she was wrong.
She saw me as stupid. I know she was wrong.
She saw me as clumsy. Well, she might have a point there.
Now, looking back, I can see we both had needs that weren't being met.
I needed comfort and gentleness.
She needed me to show my love by being molded to her liking.
Whatever a bullamaroo is or was to Nana,
Then, it is okay by me because it makes me one of a kind.

Author Notes
My Nana and I seemed to grind against each other. Years later, I can look back and see her through adult eyes. She was tough and strict but she did have a good heart.
