A boy trying to get noticed
"It's about time" by the13thpoet

Everyday he stood in the hallway and nervously watched her and hoped to get her attention, but she walked right past him just like she always had. "Stupid mask" he thought. It was the same thing every day, he would watch her as she walked down the hall in his direction and like clockwork for the briefest of moments their eyes would meet. However whenever she got close she would always avert her eyes.
Finally after weeks of the same unsuccessful routine he decided that today would be the day he got her attention. Grabbing a sharpie out of his bag he wrote hi Amy across his mask. Standing in his usual spot he saw her coming his way. As their eyes met he quickly put on the mask. This time instead of walking past she said, "it's about time!'"

Flash Fiction contest entry

Author Notes
I had to modify this flash fiction story as I mixed up the "unmasked" flash fiction contest (which is 250 words) with the regular flash fiction contest (which is 150 words). So I got rid of the opening sentence and saved myself from coming up with 100 words. Enjoy.
