October is Long Term Care Month
"Planning For the Plan" by Patty Palmer

We hoped this time would never come
Mom no longer can live on her own.
Her husband has passed.  The kids are grown.
Now she lives in that big house alone.

She doesn’t want to leave her cherished home
that her husband and her built together.
So the best long term care that they are aware
Is let the "Stay At Home Agency" come to her.

October Octo-Poem! writing prompt entry

Writing Prompt
So, October is here, folks... but do you REALLY know what that means? Well, it COULD mean a whole host of things... but you must CHOOSE ONE. That's right! The link below will bring you to the humongous list of things for which October has been designated the official month for.

https://nationaldaycalendar.com/october-monthly-observations/

Your poetry assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to pick ONE of those items on that list and write an EIGHT LINE RHYMED POEM about it. There is no specified rhyme scheme, so it's totally up to you how the rhyming will work for your choice. However, when it's all said and done, it must be EXACTLY EIGHT (Octo) lines and it must RHYME. Remember to include your chosen month in your author notes!!

Please keep it CLEAN (I've seen some of those choices on there) and kick it up a notch with your presentation: make us WANT to celebrate October for your choice.... and, of course, want to vote for your Octo-Poem!!

Good luck and run over there and choose.....we're all waiting!! ;-) ;-)

Author Notes
My October aware month is The Long Term Care Plan Month. Especially when you know it's going to happen eventually, that a parent cannot live on their on, it's not a bad idea if the family talks it over (involving the parent) before something happens and you have to make a snap decision that no one is prepared for. You want to know that what decision you make is the one your parent would have chosen themselves. There are a lot of ways to get the care needed. Nursing Homes where the resident lives and is taken care of physically and medically, Assisted Living Apartments where there are people around to give a hand if and when needed. Now days the baby boomers are getting older and in my opinion, there will be a surge in home care coming soon. Now could be a good time. More and more agencies are popping up for stay at home care. Housekeepers clean the house. Care takers help them bathe and dress, make meals, take them to doctor appointments and are able to do whatever is needed. So don't let an important decision like this happen without you being aware of long term care is out there.
