Sometimes silence speaks louder than words.
"The Sounds of Silence" by Patty Palmer
Sometimes the sounds of silence
Can actually hurt your ears.
Like joy that comes from happiness
To cold silence that brings tears.

The quiet in a classroom when
Teacher asks for a volunteer.
The deafening moment
When your heart's filled with fear.

Christmas Eve as the last note
Of Silent Night is found
The awe of a winter wonderland
a snowstorm leaves without a sound.

The sweetness of an infant’s breath
As he is sound asleep.
The quiet of a teardrop dripping
off a cheek while someone weeps.

The silent pride in a father’s eyes
Even though he’s struck out again.
Proudly giving a present to his dad
Bought with his own money to spend.

The eerie sound of a ventilator
Keeping someone alive
The breathless silence as she gets
Behind the wheel, learning to drive.

The sound of a heart breaking.
Silence before a newborn’s first cry.
A funeral’s heartbreaking silence
As mourners say their last goodbye.
Quietly listening to a child’s bedtime prayer.
No sound at all at the sight of an empty chair.
Soundless anger when you feel nobody cares
When you realize that life just doesn't seem fair.

The silent sound as a mother listens
Her daughter’s donated heart give
Another child they’ve never met
The chance now to live.

Sometimes silence speaks
So much louder than a word
Louder than any words
Could ever be heard.

Author Notes
Pain and disappointment show in many ways. Sometimes there just isn't any words to be found in the way we feel. Everyone handles pain and disappointment in their own way. I send my honest best wishes to those who today are dealing with this.
