Thanksgiving memories
"Ghosts of Thanksgiving Past"
by Mary Vigasin
As I sit at this Thanksgiving table, I think of those once filled chairs of both past and recent that are now empty.
This is to remember them today with only with a twinge of sorrow.
I want to hear again the same echoes of the laughter we enjoyed on Thanksgiving and rejoice in the years we were together.
Our dinner table may not have made a Norman Rockwell picture with very dry turkey or with one eye on a football game and the other on the meal. However, in sharing our Thanksgiving meal, we were affirming our love and enjoyment of each other's company.
Even though in that empty chair sat a father, mother, spouse, grandparent, brother, sister, or a friend,,,,
On this day offer a toast or a prayer to them and your memories of joy and laughter.
