A season ballad.
"Autumn plays"
by royowen
|
While autumn plays its melody
its fading passion floats-
on strings of silent harmony
while summer jeers and gloats.
And love's Autumnal journey
turns slowly green to gold-
once great but now diminished
what once was new is old.
From summer's brightness clinging
life's fingers loose their grip-
from Autumn-winter's dawning
this leaf--death's cup must sip.
As all the seasons come and go
and weave their special cloak
We hear autumnal harmonies
as winter's fingers grope.
Autumn, summer, winter, spring,
will play distinctive roles,
Yet none will e'er repeat again
or wear last season's clothes.

Author Notes
I love the way each season has its own personality, plays its own song, and wears its own clothes, A season's comment.
Thanks for reading. Roy Owen.
