How to Forfeit Virtue (722 words)
"Media Mendacity" by Robert Zimmerman

A free society must have a free and fair press. America has a free, but not a fair, press. A democratic form of government can’t stand when the government or the press picks winners. The press in America does not report the news; it reports its opinions. The TV talking heads have shown their smug, smarmy, and disrespectful attitudes. On CNN last week, the president was called a “sociopath.” In most places, one needs a license to practice medicine.

In the last eight months doctors and scientists, with encouragement and incentives from President Trump, worked 24 hours a day to battle COVID-19. The president made this a TOP priority.  This complete process has been a modern miracle. President Trump put massive resources behind the “warp speed” initiative. He committed to buying millions of doses of the vaccine before they were developed, or manufactured. That is doing, not talking.

Vaccines left a warehouse in Michigan today. They will be delivered to people’s arms beginning 12/14/2020. By the last day of December, America will have vaccinated 20 million people. 100 million will be vaccinated by the end of March, according to the task force in Washington. The lack of curiosity by the media in this story is astonishing. They are giving credit to Joe Biden. What was his contribution?

There are other stories the media lack interest in. The media have become useful idiots for the political left. Why have they chosen sides? What made them decide to misinform or “uninform” the American people? There are two kinds of sin. There is the sin of commission and the sin of omission. The media indulge in both. I believe there are three kinds of people in the world. “There are those that can’t tell a lie, those that can’t tell the truth, and those that can’t tell the difference.”

On 11/24/2020, Jordan Davidson, writer for The Federalist, wrote a story about a report from the Media Research Center. The report concluded 17 percent of Biden voters would not have voted for him had they known about the stories suppressed by big tech and mainstream media outlets. They list the details of the polling in the article on the Federalist website. The mainstream media refused to cover the story and Twitter CENSORED the NY Post when the story of the Hunter Biden laptop was published. Twitter, Google, and Facebook, along with others, have become part of the left’s propaganda arm.

On 12/4/2020, during a press conference, Nancy Pelosi was asked if it was a mistake not to pursue clean legislation to help Americans suffering from the COVID-19 mandatory lockdowns.  Her response was “That was not a mistake, it was a decision, and it has taken us to a place where we can do the right thing without other, shall I say considerations in the legislation that we don’t want. The fact is I’m very proud of where we are.”  She made it perfectly clear politics dictated her intentional action to delay aid for millions of Americans, and she is proud of it. She did it for political reasons. She also said, “That is a total game changer: we have a new president and a vaccine.”   Bernie Sanders confirmed Pelosi’s remarks and strategy.  Where is the curiosity of the press?

There is a situation with Rep Swalwell keeping the company of a Chinese spy. When he was asked if there was an intimate relationship with her, he responded by saying that was “classified information.” Pelosi said that’s no problem. She supports him and will keep him on the intelligence committee. Where is the media? Again, there is no curiosity on their part.

These stories are concealed by much of the mainstream media. One has to ask, “WHY.” I believe it fits their narrative. They have become useful idiots for the political left.

The press and media in America are not honest brokers.  When they tell you something, they do it to promote the agenda they support. It is not the job of the media to indoctrinate us; it is their job to present us with objective facts, not subjective opinions. Those of us capable of independent thought can make up our own minds. They are failing at their primary task and responsibility.

Thomas Jefferson said; “Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.”
