When eating ice cream always concentrate
and let the heavy weight of life subside;
allow the tide to ebb and flow abate,
remembering to see with bright wide eyes.
To send a signal to your brain of joy,
a moment when you toy with pleasure too;
no bite or chew-- a creamy ice cold ploy,
that brings a keen enjoyment rushing through.
As bells can ring too loudly, crowd the mind,
with pressured and unkind activity;
allow the free flow of ice-cream to find
your inner calm, to clear away debris.
So undertake this exercise in heat,
to cool and touch your senses with this treat.

Author Notes
A Sonnet
Shakespeare's sonnets are written predominantly in a meter called iambic pentameter. Each line of the sonnet consists of ten syllables. The syllables are divided into five pairs called iambs or iambic feet. An iamb is a metrical unit made up of one unstressed syllable followed by one stressed syllable. The rhymes scheme is a,b,a,b; c,d,c,d; e,f,e,f, gg.
