loving my Savior
"New Year, Same Savior" by Rdfrdmom2
At the break of day
we gather together
to praise the One who created us

What better place
or greater way
to write upon
the freshest page
of a new year
than by worshipping
the Lord of the universe ~

He Who has given us
the very breath we breathe
Who has provided our every need
Who sacrificed His only Son
to become sin
that we might be reconciled to Him

No matter how you welcomed
the dropping of the New Year's Ball
Christ still welcomes you here
where forgiveness flows more freely
than New Year's Eve champagne

He knows our weaknesses and fears,
shares our smiles and wipes our tears
even as we continue to make
the same mistakes

over and over again

As the new year begins
Lord, help me leave my mistakes behind -
my guilt, grudges, fears, doubts, and regrets
are all Yours
I lay them at Your feet

I confess my sins to You
I know You are faithful
You will forgive me
and purify me from all wickedness

Thank you, Lord,
for accepting me with open arms
not only this New Year's Day
but every day

Author Notes
I wrote most of this poem on New Year's Day a few years ago, then set it aside and did not find it again until today. I was able to clean it up and complete it. A special thanks to MoonWillow for the use of Another Year Older to enhance my poem.
