A tree's attempt to overthrow Mother Nature.
"Foxtail Pine" by samandlancelot

In the beginning, every fall, the leaves fell. The Foxtail Pine said, “enough is enough. Every year my children turn a different color and fall, and every year I weep as they lie on the ground. This year I won’t let them change, and I won’t let them fall." She devised a plan to overthrow the Mother of all Nature and change seasonal rules forever.

It didn’t quite go as planned, but Sequoia, Holly, Yew and others joined her cause, and two kingdoms of nature moved forward: Evergreens and Deciduous.

And that’s how the Foxtail Pine and others became evergreens.
