'you say I'll see Heaven'
"The Last Stair" by RGstar

The Last stair
----------<@

I've climbed many a stair, tired or unaware
I've toiled with falling leaves, burying those once dear
I ponder now my life...if I'll see another year
Daunting is the wind, as I near the final stair

---------<@
Some say, I'll find peace, when a higher power seek
Yet, humbleness I keep is shared with others meek
And if brash the shirt I wear, it hides fear I bear
My journey's far from clear, as I near the last stair

---------<@
Oh, how I'll miss the rose, the trees and all that grows
The way the cockerel crows--the bubbling brook that flows
The birdsong--once so clear, are things I'll miss to hear
And I'm crying in my mind, as I near the last stair

---------<@
This blue that I accrue, is it much less for you?
Things we thought we knew, above thoughts we now know true
Yes, your vision's clear, but I've not worn shoes you wear
Sorrow's always near, as in sight...the final stair

---------<@
You say I'll see heaven, for the kindness I share
I hope to heed your sign...you say is always there
So long then, friend, adieu, you've bestowed all that's fair
I'm searching as I fall, for I've reached the last stair

Author Notes
For those who are interested in the form; along with the sonnet, It is my favorite form of poetry in which I joy to use...as did Thomas Nashe with his ''Adieu, farewell earth's bliss'' and Dylan Thomas's ''Poem in October'', except I use equal syllables per line, in this case 12 syllables per line. You can hear Dylan Thomas reading his ''Poem in October'' on you tube Audio (Syllabic verse)

Syllabic Verse
(mostly iambic meter)
abba aabb aabb aabb aaaa (mono-rhyme)
x5 quatrains

From my friend and composer, the great Kerri Powles, who I collaborate with on our venture for the audio book of poetry.
