Chapter 18 of the book Psalms Of Spring
Discussion when year begins.
"Easter"
by dellsworthpoet
|
The beginning of the year is not January. Although someone at one time deemed it so. In mid-winter the old year is belligerently having fits of cantankerousness interspersed with cold, silent brooding. Mankind sets the jaw in stanch determination to outlast the snowy blast and the dark. Much energy is spent on enduring rather than moving forward.
The beginning of spring is the true New Year. As the earth warms so does the spirit. Easter, with its new clothing and bright colors and stories of resurrection, amid fresh greenery heralds it. There is a pagan-like ancientness to this feeling. Life hits the reset button.
