Portfolio | Become A Fan

That 2012 VW Jetta was so cute and sporty car parked in the used cars lot. It's omnisciently gray color spoke to me so intimately... I had to have it. But six (6) months later, I am forced to think twice. Okay, okay... I will admit it all. It has been a series of of surprises that have forced me to reconsidering trading in this automobile.

The insurance costs are mandatory. So, why is the insurance costs so high?

No more brandname coffee breaks!

And I know it's a used car. I accepted that fact. There's no reason to be jealous. Who the bleep keyed my sweet 'lil car? Whaddaya mean those brand new spots are acid like nail polish or anti-freeze on the paint job?!!!

The service is annually. A month after owning the car, it would not start. I was at the dealer for special robotic diagnostic servicing. A couple months later, my car spun out of control exiting the highway. It made me puke excessively from the shock. I was told that it was probably construction debris stuck in the wheel. I was relieved to find out that I invested in the dealer's extended warranty.

A month or so later, I moved from my triplex to an apartment. That same weekend, somebody really mean vandalized the exterior trunk of my car. Personal property, people! There are boundaries!

Who doesn't know this?!!!

The questions that come to mind.... I wonder if it is me? Or is it the car? Or both? Should I trade it in for something brand new?

I have gained back contentment with my essential, basic, compact car. Then, I get mail from VW of America, which is like corporate headquarters. Why is my car on the recall list?

God, help me!!!

Don't get me wrong, we have had some wonderful times together. There was Glendale, Pasadena, Oxnard, Ventura Channel Islands, Santa Barbara, Claremont, Long Beach, Redondo, Hollywood, and plenty other local adventures to like Denny's and Sushi Joint. Also, how many tattoo parlor did we drive by.... And, and those ritualized car washes: hand-washed with hot wax. It is all because I care.

However, there are unforseen circumstances that keeping coming up. They seem to be out of my control. I have to control something in my life.... at least the car.

So, I am left wondering.... Is this really the car for me?
