This is a poem for my son, Basil.

Author Notes
This is for my son, Basil. Half (non-italics) is from a favorite RL Stevenson poem of his (1913), that I used to read to him when he was little, when he was sick. Half (italics) is from a Russellville courier article about his arrest (2013). I made this poem because I want people to understand: behind every dangerous man, there is a sick, hurt, frightened child. Today, Basil is out of prison, on meds for his schizophrenia, working on a horse ranch, and in contact with his little girl Basia, who is now almost seven.
