An essay on faith.
"Faith is the Beginning" by sandy montgomery

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

New International Version (NIV)

Faith is the beginning. Without faith there would be no struggle, and therefore no victory. An athlete trains because they have faith in their body. Faith that training will allow them to perform at their best level. True love endures because of faith in each other. Faith keeps voters in the booth believing that it matters. That their votes are counted. Faith gives us hope in the unlikely or even in the impossible. Faith propels us forward.

We can have faith in God, in ourselves, in others. Faith can be in a system, a truth, or a law. Sometimes our faith is misplaced. We draw back wounded, and wary. It's harder but faith returns. It is an intrical part of us. We can deny God, but then put our faith elsewhere. Why? Because our knowledge is finite. We only see part of the picture.

Faith is the end. In the end our faith comforts or confronts us. When all else is stripped away and we are breaths away from death, little remains to cling to; in the end faith is there.

My faith in God keeps me moving in this life. It empowers my prayers. It heals my brokenness, it compels me. Someday I will be breaths away from my death. It will seem to others to be my end, but in faith I will sleep knowing that when I wake, it will be to a new beginning and I will be comforted.
