Wisked To Another Dimension
"Oh! If I could Only Be There" by country ranch writer

I told Mitch tonight was a full moon, things always get crazy on the nights the moon is full. Really, he says, "I didn't look at the calendar?" About as big and round as it gets this time of year," I said.

We'd been watching the TV in the break room down at the police station. Suddenly I screamed," Lord, put me in there I can do that better!" Suddenly, as if by magic my partner and I were transported to the NCIS headquarters. We were now in the investigation. Mitch looked at me and said, "I told you once, I told you a thousand times, be careful what you wish for! Now, look what you have gone and done!"
We were now leading the investigation into the whereabouts of the missing boy. The Captain was furious! The Captain was claiming the son had done this to his mother. I didn't agree with him and told him so.

I was referring to the investigation the NCIS team was doing...The Captain was being interviewed about his missing son he was lying through his teeth.
His young son had witnessed the cruel beating the Captain had given his wife. She was beaten within an inch of her life. She was holding on by a thread. The son was nowhere's to be found.

We were now leading the investigation into the whereabouts of the missing boy. The Captain was furious! The Captain claimed the son had done this to his mother. I didn't agree with him.

We met with Gibbs and filled him in on what we knew about the Captain. He listened intently and said,
"We will nail this bastard to the wall."

We went to the address we were given for the Captain, Mitch was shocked at the deplorable condition of the Captains residence. Mitch suddenly said, "wasn't this the guy you had a run in with just last week?"

"Yup!" I said. The man had been falling down drunk and had a very hot temper as she recalled. When she had arrested him for starting a barroom brawl. It took four cops to help her cuff him.

She could probably understand why the boy was on the run. The boy ran away, dreadfully frightened, and scared to death of his abusive father. The boy is tall for his age, with curly brown hair, he wore it pushed back from his face with a hair tie.

Suddenly Mitch pointed to the young man and said, "is that him over there in the meadow?"

"Yep, that's him," I said, "Let's see if we can catch up with him."

Suddenly the boy pitched forward, falling flat on his face as we called out his name.

Mitch said, "Oh! My God, he's been badly hurt!"

"No, no, I'm all right." He mumbled as he made an attempt to rise.

I tried to warn him to be careful telling him he might have internal injuries.

"No, I am okay." He said.

I was torn as to what to do. He looked so helpless. I was torn between doing what I knew was right and going with his wishes.

Mitch said," let's get him to the clinic and get him checked out. He has been severely beaten."

A look of panic crossed the young man's face as he attempted to rise passing out as he did so from all the pain he was in.

Mitch gently, put the boy in the back seat of the car getting in the back with him. He didn't want the boy to freak out if he came to while I was driving him to the clinic. Reaching the clinic, they took him inside to be looked at.

Coming to the boy asked them if he was in trouble. As not to scare him, they both said at the same time," let's' get you fixed up. They will be time later to talk about other things."

The doctor assured them that his injuries were undoubtedly painful, but he assured them they certainly weren't life-threatening. He had sustained three broken ribs and probably sustained a concussion from being beaten about the head and shoulders.

Taping up the boy's ribs, the doctor told him, "this is going to hurt." The young man winched, noticeably, but made no sound only a sharply indrawn breath came from him. The doctor asked him," did your father do this to you?"

He said, "He didn't mean to do wrong."

"Yeah, sure," I said.

"You don't understand!" he said, looking at her.

"No, and I probably never will," I said. She couldn't pretend otherwise.

The young man lay back in the bed, he was so exhausted. The doctor said he gave him a sedative and something for the pain. He would sleep for a while.

Mitch said to me. "I suspect you don't know what to do next?"

I looked at him and said, "And you do?" Eying him skeptically.

Her anger returned for the father who did this to this young man. She vowed the man would pay twofold.

Waking up the young man looked around getting his bearings. I said, "I hope you are feeling better than you look."
"Why did your father do this to you and your mother?" Mitch asked.

"He'd been drinking." the young man answered.

"How often is he sober?"I asked him

"Not since they took his command away from him." The young man went on to say," he has been taking his frustration out on whoever gets in his way. He beat mom up so badly and I tried to stop him. He ran away, leaving us lying there on the floor.

I managed to call an ambulance for mom, I hid till they took her away. Then I took off to avoid being taken away from her. Then I ran into the meadow to hide and stay close in case my mom came back home.

I asked him, "Do you have any idea at all where he might be?"

The young man said," he goes to sleep off most of his drunken binges off at our place at the beach."

We told the young man we were going by the hospital to check on his mom as the doctor wanted to keep him at the clinic overnight to make sure he was okay.

We put in a call for Gibbs to meet us at the beach house with his team. We weren't crazy enough to handle this guy by ourselves.
The takedown was handled with resistance and the Captain was sorry he crossed the line.
