A flash fiction contest entry
"My day (so far)" by Mark Valentine

I got up early this morning. Had eggs for breakfast. Killed my wife. Wrote a flash fiction piece for Fanstory. Now we wait.

The body’s in the bathtub. I kinda made a mess --stabbed her fifty-three times. It just seemed like the right amount. Fifty-four would have been too many, fifty-two, too few. I’ll wait until the blood drains and then bury her.

The contest ends soon. I hope I win. I know what you’re thinking – “It’s a fiction contest, so won’t you be disqualified?” Well, I have a confession to make: I didn’t really have eggs for breakfast.
